It’s summer now, and you’re going to be headed on a nice vacation soon. You’re putting together all your to-do lists so you can truly escape from the office without anyone bothering you. About a week out from your big trip, you ask your colleague, Jerry, to cover for you on some key accounts. Jerry, being the mensch that he is, agrees. After crafting that clever out-of-office reply, you’re now ready to send over your login credentials to Jerry who happens to work remotely in Tashkent.
After reading the recent FBI report on the state of email related cybercrime in 2022, one statistic popped out at me, when correlating different parts of the report related to Business Email Compromise and Ransomware.
We’ve had a few days of insightful discussions at the world’s largest legal IT security event, ILTA LegalSEC. Since many of you are not able to (or not in the right frame of mind to) travel to beautiful Baltimore to experience this event live, I thought I would dedicate this week’s Tech Essentials to sharing the top three FBI-special-agent speaker insights (from my perspective).
Remember that classic book from high school English class, Animal Farm by George Orwell? (This is when the teacher droned on about what an ‘allegory’ was 😊.) Even if you don’t remember, there’s a famous bit where one of the anthropomorphized sheep says, “four legs good, two legs baaad.” What he means is that you should trust the animal that is more sturdy—that sheep don’t teeter and wobble like those unruly two-legged humans.
“If I have to read one more article or see one more talking head on TV rant about the coming AI apocalypse, about how the Terminator/Matrix movies are coming to reality, about how my job will disappear as soon as next week, I’ll move to a cabin in the woods!” This quotation has been uttered en masse all year long, in some form or another, and most recently by Taylor Swift (kidding).
What would you find more useful: bionic strength and speed or a robot that could write a basic essay for 1,000 times more cost? There was perhaps no greater TV show in the 1970s than The Six Million Dollar Man. The intro alone is pure midcentury gold. Every kid in my neighborhood wanted to be […]
Many people, nostalgic for their 90s-era email account passwords, are having (or already had) their emails hacked. I don’t mean to date myself (a lonely pursuit anyway), but I can remember having passwords in the 90s that were quaint by modern standards—in addition to being woefully inadequate to protect against today’s cybersleuths.
RMail is SMART technology that actively hunts attacks that are already underway so you can swiftly dismantle them before they strike. “War is politics by other means,” wrote the famous military theorist, Carl von Clausewitz, back in the early 19th century, which was a time when wars were fairly limited, low tech, and almost gentlemanly […]
RMail’s security features connect elegantly inside your existing email programs and business systems. By now, you’ve heard “Happy New Year” perhaps hundreds, maybe thousands of times. (We’re as guilty of this as anyone with some of our recent posts and emails 😉).
We’ll give you a truly special offer for the holidays: 25% off on any RMail business license. By now you’ve probably had your fill of holiday special offers that really aren’t that special in addition to nausea-inducing cliches about ‘the season of giving’. And if you hear that Mariah Carey song one more time, you […]
